Blackpop Launches New Range 24 September, 2018 5:13 pm Luxury interior designers Blackpop launched their exciting new range of wallpaper, fabrics and rugs at Decorex, part of the London Design Festival, in the city this September. The Blackpop new collection, dubbed the Collector’s Collection, is inspired by Sir John Soane’s Museum, one of those hidden London gems that’s a real treasure trove of antiquities and wonder. Based in the city’s Lincoln Inn Fields, it is the historic home, library and museum of the distinguished nineteenth-century architect Sir John Soane. To create it, Blackpop worked with the museum directly and took as its inspiration paintings, drawings and other objets d’art to create its most dramatic and opulent collection yet. The range is made up of five fresh wallpaper designs and three new fabrics alongside a couple of handwoven rugs, each infused with a unique story. We can tell you exactly which antiquities have been brought together under this unique and extraordinary collaboration, on request. A percentage of each sale will go to support the museum. As designer and director Maxine Hall puts it: “It’s been such an immense privilege to work with this famous collection. We felt a huge responsibility to do these iconic artefacts justice, and give them the treatment they deserved. “My highlights on this project included reworking two of Adam’s illustrations that never came to realisation until now, embedded in Fresco. Another was using segments from Canaletto’s Venetian paintings and reassembling them for the background of Capriccio.“Our approach for the design was not simply to copy motifs, but to embark on a creative process of dismantling, reassigning, combining and recreating so that we ended up with pieces which were works of art in their own right.” Collaboration with Knots Rugs At the same time, Blackpop has also launched another collaboration with London-based Knots Rugs, to create three gorgeous handwoven items made in Nepal and Jaipur using ancient techniques. Hall adds: “These are a first for us, and help cement our place in the world of interiors.” Rachel Laxer Interiors has worked with Blackpop on previous projects, such as the Bridgehampton project from the East Coast of the United States.
